World premiere at Montreal Fringe 2024
Late-in-Life Lesbian
A half-hour of stand-up comedy by Shane Thevenot
Come across Canada on the #1 Highway to self-discovery. Late-in-Life Lesbian is a heart-warming autobiographical coming-out story of a comedian who gave up everything to live their best gay life.
Kind Crow Productions proudly presents the world premiere of Late-in-Life Lesbian, a provocative and moving stand-up comedy special fresh out of the closet for the 34th Montreal FRINGE Festival. Six live performances of Late-in-Life Lesbian will be showcased at Venue 2 - Petit Campus between June 8-16.
Written and performed by Winnipeg comedian Shane Thevenot, Late-in-Life Lesbian is a hilarious, fresh take on the late-bloomer lesbian and non-binary experience. The production is directed by the outrageous and beloved Lucy Gervais, an award-winning comedian, writer, and performer.

Quotes
“I am thrilled and terrified to present my debut stand-up comedy show for the Montreal FRINGE Festival. Late-in-Life Lesbian has been a lifetime in the making, and while it will make you laugh, it is a deeply personal story that holds a mirror up to a world that hates women and gays. As Canadian provinces are taking steps backwards in trans rights, and hate crimes motivated by sexuality and gender are on the rise, now is the time for more 2SLGBTQIA+ stories like this one. If you are queer, questioning, or curious about how a person could stay closeted for more than three decades of their life—this show is for you.”
– Shane Thevenot, writer, producer, and star of Late-in-Life Lesbian
“I am very excited to be directing for the first time. Shelby and I are a match made in queer artist heaven, with many similarities and stark differences in our content and comedic styles. I’ve always loved fostering talent, and in the process of collaborating on how to best tell Shelby’s story, I feel we’ve found some unexpected meanings to bring to the stage. This story is not just about coming out, it’s about coming out to yourself. It’s about what happens internally that eventually causes the truth to spring outward.”
